In alignment with its commitment to carbon neutrality, Clenergy proudly announces a partnership with Sanan Optoelectronics, a leading compound semiconductor manufacturer in China, for the installation of a 33.2MW distributed photovoltaic (PV) power station.
The renewable energy initiative represents Sanan’s proactive response to the yearly surge in carbon emissions, driven by the escalating demand for semiconductor chips. With Environmental Social Governance (ESG) at the forefront of their business strategies, both Clenergy and Sanan are dedicated to making a lasting positive impact on the environment and society.
The project is located at the Quanzhou Sanan Semiconductor Technology factory, within the Shi Jing Semiconductor Industrial Park in Nanan City. Quanzhou Sanan Semiconductor Technology is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sanan Optoelectronics.
With a total installed capacity of 33.2MW, the project incorporates an additional 5.8MW ezShade 2.0 by PV-ezRack® (carport). Upon its completion, this will emerge as the most extensive smart distributed power station in Quanzhou, setting a new standard for sustainability in the semiconductor industry.
The initial 16MW phase of the project has seamlessly integrated with the grid. Upon reaching full operational capacity, it is anticipated to supply the company with 40.21 million kWh of clean electricity each year. This substantial output will lead to an annual reduction of 40,094 tons of carbon emissions, contributing to an overall reduction of a million tons over the span of 25 years.
“The Quanzhou Sanan solar installation is a significant milestone for Clenergy,” said Daniel Hong, CEO of Clenergy. “We adhered to the stringent construction standards required by semiconductor facilities and executed the project precisely to ensure safety and quality throughout its development.”
Thanks to this high-level commitment to quality, the solar installation not only endured but excelled amidst the impact of the recent Typhoon Dusu Rui, showcasing the company’s dedication to safety.
It’s also worth mentioning that the project uses Clenergy’s internally developed digital energy management system. This system enables real-time monitoring, integration optimisation, and visualisation of the factory’s energy consumption status, leading to energy management that is more visual, controllable, and optimised. These improvements enhance energy efficiency and reduce energy consumption.
With the successful advancement of the Quanzhou Sanan project, Clenergy is now gearing up to construct an 11MW distributed photovoltaic power station for Hunan Sanan, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sanan Optoelectronics. Hunan Sanan has recently announced a partnership with European chip giant STMicroelectronics (ST), investing a total of $3.2 billion for the construction of a semiconductor plant.
Looking ahead, Clenergy is eager to rejoin forces with Sanan Optoelectronics to collaboratively establish an eco-friendly facility for this noteworthy international joint venture.
